Race Parts and Prep
We have been racing the Hyosung GT650R since 2006. Over that time we have tried many modifications in order to go faster and make the bike lighter. Most worked. Some didn't. We are currently leading the CCS Southwest Championship with one race to go. So, if you are looking to get your GT (250 or 650) out on the track give us a call and we can help you turn it into an SV killer!
Powersports Outlet Racing Sweeps CCS Weekend
Firebird Raceway, Chandler AZ Sept. 19th: After a long summer break the 2nd half of season recommenced with record high temperatures of 110 degrees. The Prescott based team spent the summer putting the Hyosung GT 650R on a diet and the results paid immediate dividends. The changes provided team rider Matt Kellerman the ability to turn in quicker, maintain higher corner speeds, and increased acceleration down the long straight at the Firebird Main Track.
The extreme heat combined with the sustained high RPM's required on the track took it's toll on multiple bikes causing terminal engine failures throughout the day. The Powersports Outlet GT 650R experienced no problems and performed flawlessly all day and was on the top step of the podium in all four races.
Matt Kellerman: 1st LW GP, 1st LW Superbike, 1st ULW Superbike, 1st Thunderbike
“The high temperatures were causing slower lap times for everybody, but we pushed to bike to it's limits as always. It was a struggle to put my leathers back on after the lunch break it was so hot out there. Overall it was a fantastic day for the team and the Hyosung GT650R took the abuse in stride all day. I had a couple of good battles throughout the day, but unfortunately Rocco Horvath had a mechanical issue in the LW Superbike race and wasn't able to finish. That was the closest and most enjoyable race of the day, and I would rather battle to the end than win by a DNF. I have to thank my friends and Pit Crew Tim and Annette Flood for braving the heat all day. Also, a big thanks to Powersports Outlet, Jim Knaup, and Jim Cox Racing for providing the Dunlop tires that never let me down, despite the ridiculous heat.”
Powersports Outlet Racing has extended its lead in all classes and is in great shape to win multiple class championships with only two races to go. The next CCS SW race for the team is Oct. 24 at Firebird Raceway.

EP Racing Continues Winning Ways On Their GT 650R
Firebird Raceway, Phoenix AZ, Feb. 7, 2010: EP racing came into the weekend looking to continue their win streak and build upon their lead in all the CCS Southwest Lightweight Classes. The weather was not looking good for the weekend though, as the team awoke to a soaking wet track on Sunday morning. The rain had stopped by the first practice and it looked as if the clouds might clear out, so the team elected to keep the rain tires in the trailer and skip the first practice session. It turned out to be the right call for the team as the sun peeked out and started to dry the track quickly.
Encore Performance Racing Starts New Year With Multiple Wins
Firebird Raceway, Phoenix AZ, Jan. 17, 2010: The new year brings a new hope and a general sense of optimism for most people, and the beginning of 2010 was no different for the EP Race team and their Hyosung GT 650R. A fuel injected engine arrived over the short winter break and spirits were high that the new powerplant would help propel the team to the top step of the podium. However, as with most new projects, you have to jump a few hurdles to get to the finish line and this one was no different. It requires many additional components to switch from a carbureted engine to a fuel injected engine and as the first race weekend of the year drew near it became apparent that the swap would not be done in time. Undeterred the team went into the weekend knowing they would give it their all and hope for the best, after all it is a new year!
EP Racing Wraps up 3rd Overall
Firebird Raceway, Phoenix AZ, Nov. 15th 2009: The final race weekend of the season had its ups and downs for the EP Race team. Coming into the weekend they were looking to wrap up 3rd in all the Lightweight Classes aboard their Hyosung GT650R. The sun was out and the temperature was in the mid 70's, however, a brief rainstorm the day before had cleaned off the track, leaving it with a little less grip than usual. The most important race of the day for the team was the Thunderbike race, where Matt Kellerman (EP Racing) was tied with Kerry Alter for third place. Whoever finished ahead of the other would take third for the season.
EP Racing Takes 2nd Aboard the Hyosung GT 650R
Firebird Raceway, Phoenix, Oct. 4th, 2009 – It was a windy weekend at the tight and technical West Track in Phoenix, yet Matt Kellerman (#63) was able to stay on the bike for three more podium finishes. Entering Round 7 of the CCS Southwest Series, EP Racing was looking to move up to third in the standings for Thunderbike as well as claiming Third Overall in the Lightweight Division. Happily both goals were accomplished with EP Racing taking a weekend best of 2nd in the Thunderbike race.
EP Racing Claims Three Podiums On Their Hyosung GT 650R
Firebird Raceway, Phoenix, Sept. 13, 2009 – Under HOT and sunny skies Matt Kellerman was able to take his Hyosung GT 650R to three, third place finishes during the 6th round of the CCS Roadrace Southwest Series in Phoenix, AZ. After a three month summer break when the temperatures were unfit to be outside, much less dressed head to toe in cowhide, the EP Racing team was itching to get back on the track. Coming into round 6 of 8 in the CCS series, EP Racing held onto 3rd place in the Lightweight GP class, and were only 15 points behind 3rd in Lightweight Superbike and Thunderbike.
